Healthy Weight for My Height: Chart in kg & lb
The formula
m = your height in metres (e.g. 175 cm = 1.75 m).
Example: 1.75 m → 1.75 × 1.75 = 3.06 → 18.5 × 3.06 = 56.7 kg to 24.9 × 3.06 = 76.3 kg (125–168 lb).

You may also see "ideal body weight" formulas such as Devine (1974), Robinson (1983), or Miller (1983). These were originally developed to estimate medication doses, and they give a single number rather than a range. The BMI-based range is wider and better reflects the variety of healthy body types. Our Ideal Weight Calculator shows both side by side.
Why your number might differ
- Muscle: very muscular people may be healthy above the range. Check with the Body Fat Calculator.
- Frame size: people with larger bone structure often sit higher in the range.
- Ethnicity: for South Asian and some East Asian backgrounds, the upper healthy limit is often set at BMI 23. At 170 cm that's about 66 kg instead of 72 kg. See healthy BMI range.
- Age: adults over 65 may do best slightly higher in or just above the range.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my healthy weight range?
Square your height in metres, then multiply by 18.5 for the lower limit and by 24.9 for the upper limit. For example, at 1.70 m: 1.70 × 1.70 = 2.89; 2.89 × 18.5 = 53.5 kg and 2.89 × 24.9 = 72.0 kg.
What is a healthy weight for someone 5 feet 6 inches tall?
At 5 ft 6 in (168 cm), a healthy weight range based on BMI 18.5–24.9 is about 52–70 kg, or roughly 115–154 lb.
Is the healthy weight range different for men and women?
BMI-based healthy weight ranges are the same for adult men and women of the same height. Some ideal-weight formulas, such as Devine or Robinson, give different values by sex, but they are older estimates and not health targets.
Should I aim for the middle of my healthy weight range?
Not necessarily. Anywhere within the range is considered healthy for most adults. Muscle mass, frame size, waist measurement, and how you feel matter more than hitting an exact number.
